Last year we started at 8:45 got out at 3:30. I would typically arrive around 7:00, and sometimes stay till 7:00 (6:30 was more typical). In average, about 10-11 hours a day.
This year I decided that I was going to NOT DO THAT. So. We start at 7:45, and go till 2:30. I try to arrive around 6:45, and leave around 4:30. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Average between 9 and 10 hours.
Today I arrived at 6:45, and left at 7:00.
I need to not do that. However, I actually was working and was super productive during that time.
Accomplished:
Finished compiling the Math Assessment for the Week
Held a PT Conference
Signed 1 more student up for Robotics
Explained the homework to a parent
Helped Pat get his Evaluation stuff done*
Finished setting up what I want for my literature circles
Leveled, then releveled my groups for said reading
Found 2 choices for each group. (Snow Treasure/Strawberry Girl for Low, The Long Winter/Mrs. Frizby and the Rats of Nihm for Middle, and Woodsong or Hatchet for High.)**
*seriously, I swear his technology is possessed. I helped him with it this morning, and it was all done. At the end of the day VP said, "Still saying it ain't there!", so we did it again. I swear, Pat's room is where technology goes to say 'screw you' to how it should work. Even our head technology people are often left scratching their heads going, "I have NO idea why it's doing that. It works just fine everywhere else...."
** Hopefully next Lit. circle time it won't be so hard to find books. It's talking about revolutionaries, folk tales, and myths, and I know that our very abused reading room has a whole bunch. I just hope their on grade level. Principal has made it clear that ANY books they read should be above grade level. Which sucks for my lowest readers who struggle with just 4th grade material. I mean, the district did buy some book sets for us, but they only bought one set per grade level. That means that we can't do whole group book studies.
***Also, I'm still going to do The Phantom Tollbooth, whole class, starting in January. I don't care what Joyce thinks- it's an awesome book, they love it, and it hits so many of the standards I need to teach!!
