I have to remember that Arizona State University is NOT as good as BYU. Diane has a new student teacher and I'm amazed by some of the things she doesn't know about. Simple, basic, staples of education that should NEVER be left until student teaching.
Things like AYP- Annual Yearly Progress. EVERY school is measured by this. It's been around for over a decade now. It was a HUGE controversy (it is a part of No Child Left Behind). I knew about AYP in /high/ school and learned more in my formal Education classes.
Also, RTI- Response to Intervention. It was mentioned in every class I took for my major, (not Gen Eds) and I had a very thorough understanding of what it was, and theoretically how it worked.
This new student teacher... didn't know either one.
BYU is just a better school than ASU. Must remember this. BYU is constantly updating their program to keep up with new Education programs (like... ones that have been there for a decade), but most Universities aren't that flexible.
