Ah! Yes, it's <cut text="whatever"> without the dash, just like on LJ (and DJ, IJ, JF) it's <lj-cut text="whatever"> with a dash between lj and cut but not between cut and text. And that error is there because it can't parse <cut-text>, so it hides it so that no one's browser tries to parse it, either.
