Saturday Afternoon Session
1. Russell B. Hayes - 12
Agency is the privilege of being able to act for ourselves and not be acted upon. God will force no man to heaven. Without agency we could not make correct choices and progress, but without it we could freely damn ourselves. (I get it, but I don't think I can explain it.) We had agency even in the preexistence and the souls (1/3 of heaven) that followed Satan exercised their agency to destroy it. I don't get why they did it. Maybe because I didn't. Because they choose the way they did, they lost their agency and now cannot feel the happiness that we can because of our choice to follow the Savior. Eternity is at stake, How we use our of God given agency can keep us from making it or allow us to receive the Grace of Jesus Christ. Agency is action. Christ exercised his own agency to bring about our salvation. Whenever we choose to take upon us the name of Christ our freedoms are extended.. When we don't keep the commandments our opportunities are reduced and our ability to progress is stopped. When we disobey we spiritually paint ourselves into a corner -- Repentance. To obey is better than sacrifice. (Not President Hayes Words: We can choose to be 'selectively obedient' but the Lord does not answer with 'selective blessings'. We obey all, or it is counted as none.)
2. Quentin L. Cook - 12
Family is attacked from every side. we would be wise to blackout the lethal vibes that destroy our families (pornography, things in TV and internet.) If we do not blackout evil from our homes and lives we ought not be surprised when they explode in our homes. Optimism? The world is not as bad as it could be. Some today do not believe in 'moral goals'. The Light of Christ however, works hard in many to help them live a moral life. Not common for a majority to choose evil, but very common for a small to choose badly. The moment the majority choose evil, then will the end be. What would the life look like if Honesty was still a guiding principle of the world? Religious beliefs lead people to live according to rules that the government cannot enforce thus leading to a more democratic society. We should not expect for preferential status for our beliefs, but we should be able to expect a fair hearing. We need to join with all peoples who strive to promote light and banish darkness.
3. Richard C. Edgley - Presiding Bishopbric
When our beliefs are challenged we have a choice. The best choice is faith. We are responsible both for keeping the faith and our lack of faith. Faith bridges the gap between what we know and what we don't know, and eventually brings us to a perfect knowlege. The witness comes after the trial of our faith. Faith needs CONSTANT nourishment. (prayer, scripture study...)
4. Kevin R Duncan- 70
The only secure road through life is trusting in the Lord. The world is full of people willing to give advice. It's easy to look everywhere but the Lord for truth in this life. The Lord will do nothing except he conveys it first to the prophets. "Fourteen Fundamentals" (missed them. :() Look up talk to hear them again.
5. Gerrit W. Gong - 70
Temple mirrors. Only our saviors attonement defeats time to swollow death, sorrow, heartbreak and pain. Only his sacrifice brings about our salvation.
7. Elder Richard G. Scott - 12
Faith fortifies character which then allows you to exercise more faith --- only you can destroy the development of your own character. No matter how strong your faith is, the lord will respond to your exercise of faith with what is best. Sometimes, the struggle must last a long time. thus our Faith and Character are allowed to grow. When self control is exercised, the blessings of character can be felt for eternity. Character is the evidence of your progression on this Earth. A strong testimony gives peace, comfort and hope that so long as the commandments of Christ are followed all will turn out for the best. Satan has no power in and of himself to destroy our faith, testimonies and character.
Principles that bring feelings of peace:
1. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
2. Repentance to rectify sins
3. Obedience to the commandments of the Lord
4. Selfless service
Hold tight, your struggles are defining you.

Our decision not to be offended or to be offended has generations of consequences. We cannot love Christ and disobey his commandments because of the knowledge that we have. Unto whom much is given, much is required. To whom shall we go? Thou has the words of....
